ernhard Plockhorst’s famous painting shows Jesus as a caucasian male (with a long straight nose), surrounded by sheep. He is barefoot, and carries a lamb, holding also a shepherd’s crook. He is protrayed with a halo.

Jesus is not in fact described as a shepherd in the Gospels, except metaphorically. He was a Palestinian Jew and a carpenter, and was put to death for inciting terrorism.
