The Medes lived in what is now North-West Iran around 800 BCE. This book identifies them with Medai, the third son of Japhet, son of Noah, in the Bible, but this would make Noah much too recent.
The two colossal statues of seated people (both male?) might be inspired by the Colossi of Memnon in Egypt, or other seated Egyptian statues. In the distance are the remains of a temple with pillars, perhaps inspired by Palmyra (today in Syria).
