Edgar’s Gateway, Worcester, in Worcester, Worcestershire, England more
The engraving (signed Whymper) is of Edgar Tower, also known as St Mary’s Gate, an arched and defended stone tower guarding a gateway in the city wall. It was thought to have been build in the 10th Century by Edgar, but in fact is now believed to be slightly more recent (14th century). Some statues were added since this engraving was made.
Edward Whymper is the name of an English wood engraver, and I am guessing that’s who engraved this picture.
