“John Wyclif (portrait at Knole)”
Wyclif is also written Wicliffe, Wycliffe, Wiclif, Wyclife, etc.; however you spell him, he is best known for “Wyclif’s Bible,” the translation into English of the Bible (finished in 1380) that was part of the start of the Protestant Reformation.
