The instrument called a harp-lute, with twelve strings, was invented by Edward Light, of London, about seventy years ago, and was designed for accompanying vocal music, but never enjoyed much public favour.” (p. 368)
It seems that Edward Light invented the Harp-Lute in 1798. It is also called the “dital harp.”
