A man and woman, or two ladies, are out in the countryside near a mountain; one appears to be whispering something to the other, who smiles. Perhaps it’s a proposal of marriage, maybe they are to get engaged..
The woman in the foreground wears a long light blue dress which she holds up off the ground; the other is wearing black. There is an arch in the background.
The word Novelle means “amendment” in English (or novella); the notes i made said the picture was entitled “affection” but i am not sure why. Whispered Secrets would be just as satisfactory, or Gossip, but i prefer Affection.
The original painting was by the artist Robert Engels. It does not appear connected to any other text on the page.
