The front cover of this huge book is a dark red; in the picture i have brightened it, thinking it probably faded over time.

We have an ornate scrollwork border round the outside; we have angels with long trumpets on either side of a German heraldic shield at the top. Then there is the title, “Moderne Kunst in Meister-Holzschnitten” (Modern Art in Master Woodcuts), and below that a winged cherub (anatomically complete) holding up a scroll, and another holding up a book.
