Notes:

In the Modern Kuinst book from which I scanned this full-page engraving, the picture is captioned (in German) Leaf Walk, but it was originally exhibited at the Große Berliner Kunstaustellung in 1901 with the title Avenue of Sighs.

Keller, the artist, was known at the time, the last art period in his life, for mystical views of nature.

Some of the trees have faces, and there are hidden creatures. And a bat, I think, and birds. A haunted forest.
