Celtic knotwork dragon ornament/initial more
initials, celtic knotwork, drakslingor, lettero, red, gold, yellow, colour
This decorative initial was taken from a ninth century psalter [unidentified in the book] and is said to be derived from “drakslingor” style runic carvings—that is, a Viking-age style using animal-inspired motifs for decoration. This one seems to be a red and yellow circular dragon.
The book doesn’t say which letter Racinet thought this was; he might not have been certain, although it could pass for an “O” or a “D” I think.
