Auber was a French composer from Paris, born in 1782 and died in May 1871. He wrote a series of comic oeras with Scribe and Auber, including “Leicester” (based on Kenilworth, by Sir Walter Scott); “La Niege,” “Le Maçon,” “Le Timide,” and more.
