The “muscle men” illustrations each show a naked man, in a progressive state of dissection. De Fabrica wsa hoping that they would be useful not only for doctors but also for the painter, sculptor and moulder.

The image bears the Latin words (not shown here), SECVNDA MVSCVLO RVMTA-/BVLA., which says that this is the second ofthe muscle men. The letters on the engraving are presumably tied to the text, but I do not have access to an English translation.
