Somehow i ended up with this manuscript, which authorized the founding of a Church school for the poor in Haynes, Bedfordshire, UK, in 1850. Probably this was the school that’s in the South-West corner of Haynes Church End, almost at Clophill Lane, converted to a private house in the 1960s by an arcitect who lived there (Chris Robinson). My father Eric Quin was the Vicar of Haynes, so we lived in the Vicarage; he also found the deeds for the house showing it was restored in the 1570s, when it was infested with rats, and that the house was given oer for use as a vicarage in the year 1235. No wonder it felt old. The school dated from 1850, though.
