Some images from Illustrations to Goethe’s Faust, Designed by the German silhouette artist Paul Konewka (1841 – 1871). The artist made paper silhouettes and turned them into lithographs for an edition of Fause in 1865, and these lithographs are reproduced here.

This slim volume was published in Boston in 1871 by Roberts Brothers. I bought the copy i scanned from Second Story Books in Rockville, Maryoland, USA, on a trip to visit Mulberry Technologies Inc. to talk about some XSL and XSLT work.
